The Chef is responsible for the production, transportation and distribution of food for the boarding students and staff, ensuring that a high standard is maintained in relation to all aspects of food management. Your responsibilities may include:Prepare and cook nutritious well-presented meals for boarding students and staffWork collaboratively with the catering team to plan menus that meet dietary, nutritional, and cultural requirementsMaintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanlinessAssist with ordering, stock control, and efficient kitchen operations Further duties are available in the Position Description.About youThe successful applicant will: have an understanding of, and a commitment to, the ethos of Catholic educationrelevant trade qualifications (Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent)a strong understanding of food safety and kitchen compliancea flexible, team oriented approach with a commitment to quality and consistencya genuine interest in working within a school and boarding environmenthave excellent time management skillshave well developed interpersonal skillsPrevious experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen (education, health, hospitality or similar) is highly desirable. A willingness to work rostered weekend and night shifts and an “Open” Driver’s Licence (QLD) is desirable.
