Role description

The Head of Technologies is a key leadership role at the College, responsible for the strategic oversight and development of Technological and Applied Studies within the Secondary School. This includes leading the implementation of curriculum and fostering innovative, contemporary teaching and learning practices across technology disciplines.

As both a leader and classroom teacher, the Head of Technologies nurtures students’ ability to learn, guiding them in design thinking and problem-solving while supporting their academic and pastoral development. Central to the role is promoting creativity, critical thinking and engagement through hands-on experiences with traditional and emerging technologies.

The role also includes leading and mentoring teaching and support staff, supporting professional growth and facilitating learning aligned with curriculum reform and emerging trends. In addition, the Head of Technologies oversees the effective management of specialist classrooms and workshops, ensuring safe, compliant and future-focused learning environments.
