Casual tutor

This role requires availability Monday to Friday, commencing in July. Tutors may be required to work at either our North or South Canberra locations.

About You

You are someone who:

• Has a genuine love of working with children and a strong commitment to their development
• Is patient, encouraging, and able to build strong rapport with students
• If not experienced but willing to learn about teaching reading and writing using an explicit, structured teaching approach
• You have experience teaching the writing process to high school students who may be neurodiverse
• Is confident working with students who may have learning difficulties or language processing delays

Ideal Background

This position would suit:

• A retired or semi-retired learning support teacher
• Educators with special education training
• Tutors with prior experience delivering explicit literacy instruction
• Someone with prior exposure to learning difficulties

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• MSL and/or SPELD training
• Experience teaching or supporting children on the Autism Spectrum
