Selection Criteria
1. Experience Supporting Students with Diverse Learning Needs
- Previous experience in classrooms, early childhood, disability support, or similar settings desirable.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and supportive, especially with students who need extra help to feel safe and regulated.
2. Capacity to Follow Direction and Established Protocols

Demonstrated ability to work effectively under teacher/coach guidance.
3. Strong Interpersonal Skills
- Ability to build rapport with students through warmth, playfulness, and positive interactions.
- Clear communication skills with staff and students.
4. Understanding of Inclusive Practice and Student Safety
- Awareness of student dignity, trauma-informed practice, and DET child safety requirements.
- Commitment to supporting safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environments.
5. Willingness to Participate in Training
- Openness to coaching and reflective practice.
- Commitment to developing skills in positive behaviour support, and student inclusion.
Role
Attendance required for this position - 5 days a week, Monday to Friday, 8:45am - 3:30pm
An education support class position at this range will perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.
