Altona Primary School has a proud history of learning growth and a positive school culture. In 2026, the school has an enrolment of 515 students, composed of 22 classes from Prep to Year 6.  Teachers work within a supportive culture of high expectations focused on maximising student outcomes.  Academic achievement is above state and similar schools in most measures of Literacy and Numeracy and the school delivers an engaging specialist program comprising of Visual Art, Physical Education, Performing Arts, STEM and Auslan.

Our purpose is to engage and challenge students to achieve their best in a vibrant learning environment where all students are nurtured to achieve their best. Students, staff, and parents work in partnership to create a community that is focused on `Living our Values: Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Aspiration, Gratitude and Collaboration.

An experienced combination of Range-2, Range-1 and Graduate teachers provide a challenging and stimulating curriculum, supported by the School Improvement Team.
