Toolangi Primary School is a small semi-rural school in the township of Toolangi 38 kilometres north of Lilydale. The school lies in the midst of forest vegetation at the foothills of the Great Dividing Range and is set in very attractive grounds, which include terraced gardens, extensive play equipment, a kitchen garden and several large trees of historical significance.

Children travel to the school from the township as well as surrounding areas including Kinglake, Castella, Glenburn and Healesville.

At Toolangi Primary School we believe that each child has the potential to grow as respectful, caring and contributing citizens when nurtured in a secure and stimulating environment that supports risk-taking, and invites the sharing of ideas. To establish such an environment teachers act as guides and mentors; designing units of study that encourage the child's natural curiosity, respond to individual learning styles, and promote respect for all things and all people.

Helping students to develop a deep love and respect for themselves, others, and their environment occurs through an open sharing of ideas and a respectful approach to discipline. When the voice of each student is heard, an environment evolves where students feel free to express themselves.
