Selection Criteria

Key Selection Criteria

1. Demonstrated practical skills and experience in general maintenance, woodworking, or a related area.
Demonstrated ability to undertake routine maintenance tasks and use hand and industrial power tools safely and effectively. 

2. Demonstrated knowledge of workplace health and safety practices, especially in schools with child safety considerations.
Ability to follow established safety procedures, identify and report hazards, maintain a safe working environment, and comply with occupational health and safety requirements, particularly when working in a school setting and woodwork facilities.

3. Demonstrated ability to support the operation of a school.
Capacity to assist with the preparation, maintenance, storage and organisation of tools, equipment, materials and workshop spaces, ensuring they are clean, safe and ready for use by staff and students with an appropriate attitude towards being a supportive member of the team.

4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow direction.
Ability to work cooperatively with teaching staff, education support staff, contractors and school leadership, while carrying out assigned duties efficiently and reliably.

5. Demonstrated organisational and communication skills.
Ability to prioritise routine tasks, maintain basic records where required, communicate effectively with staff and contractors, and provide courteous service within a school environment.
