Merriwa Central School is a K–12 school of 232 students, including 52 Aboriginal students, located in the Upper Hunter region serving a largely rural community. As one of the oldest schools in the State and one of only four Central Schools in NSW with separate primary and secondary campuses, it serves students from the local town and surrounding villages. The school has established dedicated support structures including multi-categorical support classes at both primary and secondary campuses and appointed a Deputy Principal Student Wellbeing to support families in accessing community services. The school operates within a supportive community environment with a commitment to Aboriginal education policies and whole-school inclusion initiatives.

Position Information
Merriwa Central School is a K–12 school (232 students including 52 Aboriginal students) located within a supportive community in the Upper Hunter. It caters to students from the local town and villages servicing a largely rural community. It is one of the oldest schools in the State and was one of the first National Schools established in 1850. Merriwa Central School is unique in several respects. Firstly, it is the only central school in the Hunter Region, and secondly it is one of four Central Schools in the State with a separate primary and secondary campus.
