Freshwater Christian College is seeking an inspiring Head of English to lead our dynamic faculty. This is a pivotal middle-management position that combines high-level strategic oversight with the joy of classroom teaching. You will be instrumental in shaping the literacy landscape of our College, mentoring a dedicated team of educators, and ensuring our students achieve academic excellence within a supportive, faith-based environment.
The Role
As the Head of English, you will report directly to the Head of Secondary and work closely with the curriculum and pedagogy team. This role is designed for a leader who balances "big picture" strategy with the technical rigour required for QCAA compliance.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Instructional Leadership: Driving pedagogical excellence and ensuring the fidelity of the English Australian Curriculum and QCAA Senior Syllabuses.
- Strategic Contribution: Developing literacy strategies and collaborating on cross-curricular instructional models.
- Quality Assurance: Leading the faculty through QCAA Confirmation and Monitoring cycles, managing AARA, and upholding high standards of academic integrity.
- Staff Mentorship: Coaching and inducting English staff to foster a culture of professional growth aligned with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
