Belmont City College is a public secondary school located in Belmont, six kilometres east of Perth, Western Australia. The school first opened in 1957, as Belmont Senior High School and following the amalgamation with Kewdale Senior High School in 2020, reopened as Belmont City College.
In 2010, the College was one of the first 34 schools to be granted Independent Public School (IPS) status. This had a significant impact, as being an IPS enabled the College to target the use of our resources in a manner that would best meet the needs of our students.

The Role
The Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO) is a support role that assists teachers in delivering planned education programs and encouraging a supportive and inclusive learning environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
The AIEO acts as a liaison between the community and school to develop an educational program relevant to both educational and cultural needs. They also provide mentoring and pastoral care to encourage participation and achievement at school, and provide support and advice to schools and teachers on the management program of students at risk. They also design and implement behaviour management plans, maintain records, and provide information to parents.
