The Role

Albany PS is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and passionate Deputy Principal to join our amazing school team.

The successful applicant will play a key role in driving the school’s improvement agenda that is focussed on the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based instructional practice, collective teacher efficacy, student engagement and student wellbeing. You will ideally provide strong instructional and curriculum leadership and work to ensure whole school approaches are embedded in classroom practice.

You should be highly capable in leading teaching and learning and be responsible for delivering strategies and targets outlined in the school’s Business Plan. This will include the further development of monitoring data informed teaching practices aligning with our high impact instructional model. You will ideally have the ability to lead improvement, innovation and change across the school.

Applicants should be committed to building the culture of high performance and high care in order to make a positive difference in the lives of our students at Albany PS. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are a plus. You should be able to build strong professional relationships with staff, student, parents, networks and the wider school community.

Successful applicants will ideally have:

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of evidence-based practices and pedagogy, particularly Explicit Direct Instruction, and how to apply this in a primary school setting.
  • High level interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff and parents.
  • High level data analysis skills and strategic planning skills.
  • Proven ability in leading innovation and change.
  • Experience coordinating whole school events and managing school policy and processes, such as National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Reporting to Parents.
  • A sound understanding of managing students at educational risk and utilising resourcing effectively for optimal student outcomes.
