About You

St John Bosco College Engadine is seeking an enthusiastic and suitably experienced Laboratory Assistant who is passionate about Science to support our Science faculty. Responsible to the Science Coordinator, the Laboratory Assistant maintains adequate operational systems and oversees the effective day-to-day running of Science resources. The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for providing a safe teaching and learning environment and ensures administrative tasks are completed. You will bring:

  • the capacity to safely and effectively prepare Science practicals and experiments
  • the ability to use RiskAssess and be able to accurately assess risk assessments
  • the ability to use Chemwatch or be willing to learn
  • a sound understanding of Workplace Health and Safety requirements including the safe management, storage, handling and labelling of hazardous material
  • the capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team and at times autonomously
  • a willingness to undergo any relevant training appropriate for the role
  • suitable qualification in Science eg Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques, Diploma of Laboratory Technology, Bachelor of Science or Applied Science
  • commitment to supporting a positive religious and cultural Catholic School environment.
