Work Health and Safety Coordinator

We are seeking a suitably qualified-and preferably experienced Work Health and Safety Coordinator to work with school leadership to ensure the safety of staff, students, families, visitors and contractors across our Primary School, Marine Discovery Centre and OSHC.  

The role involves providing a responsive and professional service, focusing on planning, design and administration of Work Health and Safety (WHS) processes.

This is a part-time position, working 10 hours per week, 41 weeks per year and may suit someone who is already performing this role in another school.

Key Responsibilities

As WHS Coordinator at Star of the Sea School your responsibilities will include:

• Undertaking responsibility for WHS within the school where an advanced level of specialised knowledge is required within the context of the legislative requirements applicable to the role.
• Ensuring currency of requirements and undertake timely WHS inductions for staff to enable safe use of designated places, materials and equipment within the school.
• Ensuring contractors have required clearances, licenses and insurance for the work they are undertaking and maintaining records as applicable.
• In conjunction with school leaders, undertaking WHS risk assessments, audits and inspections on a regular basis, document outcomes, and draft communications for authorisation to ensure WHS legislative requirements are met.
• Maintaining WHS training records on the Salt online training platform and generating reports and following up to ensure compliance with mandatory requirements.
