This is a permanent full-time position commencing ASAP

The Department’s Work Health, Safety and Wellbeing Directorate comprises two branches: Safety and Staff Wellbeing and the Employee Support Services. The Directorate is responsible for ensuring that legislative frameworks are complied with and that employee’s mental health and wellbeing are supported. It provides strategic and operational advice to the Minister, Director General, school leaders and line managers on a range of matters including:

  • workers’ compensation
  • injury management
  • work health and safety (WHS)
  • staff wellbeing
  • employee assistance and mediation programs.

The Role

The Education Officer Workplace Violence and Aggression (WVA) supports schools and workplace leaders to implement, monitor and evaluate WHS improvement and prevention strategies that address workplace violence and aggression (WVA) risks at the classroom, school and system level.

The role designs, delivers and reviews practical resources and initiatives to build the capability of teachers, education assistants and school leaders across the state to effectively manage WVA.

In this role, you will work with schools to gather feedback and evaluate the effectiveness and quality of WVA safety initiatives, identify opportunities for improvement and support continuous improvement in practice. You will also provide expert advice to ensure training programs remain current, evidence-based and consistent across the Department.
