This is a permanent part time (0.6FTE) position, commencing Term 2, 2026.

The Role

The School of Special Educational Needs: Medical and Mental Health (SSEN: MMH) teacher role plays a vital part in strengthening partnerships between Health and Education by enhancing communication, coordination, and collaboration between the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) and schools in the regional area of the Lower South West. The successful applicant will be based within a community health setting in Albany, providing outreach and support to schools across this region.

As a SSEN: MMH teacher within CAMHS, you would use your comprehensive educational expertise to contribute to an interdisciplinary team supporting the educational, medical, and psychosocial needs of young people. You will ideally act as a crucial liaison between clinicians, schools, and regional staff, ensuring that students with mental health challenges are supported to engage in learning and reach their full potential.

Key Focus Areas

  • Strengthen partnerships between CAMHS and regional schools to improve shared understanding and communication.
  • Support schools in developing tailored strategies to enhance educational outcomes for students referred to CAMHS.
  • Promote collaborative practice within the interdisciplinary health team, the Department and across agencies to address student need.
