Description
Mimili is a beautiful Anangu community set in the Anangu Lands, a short drive from the Stuart Highway. We are seeking a passionate and adventurous teacher for our upper primary students. An understanding or willingness to develop skills in Trauma Informed Practices is also important. All teachers work closely with Anangu Educators to deliver all aspects of the curriculum and it is important that the teacher develops strong relationships with families and community members.
The Yankunytjatjara and Pitjantjatjara Languages are a key component of the learning program, supported by Anangu Educators. There is a strong focus on oral language and reading across all areas of the curriculum. The desirable applicant should be flexible and be able to work well with service providers and community to deliver an engaging and relevant learning program. The school has a strong focus on EALD strategies, culturally responsive pedagogies and trauma informed practices.
You will be looking to make a real difference in the lives of our students and teachers, and to form lasting connections with our small, yet welcoming community. Bring with you a positive attitude, a willingness to grow and a good sense of humour.
Use your weekends exploring the beauty of Central Australia, with the Musgrave Ranges, Uluru, Kings Canyon, the gorges surrounding Alice Springs and everything in between, all within range. Or, get out on country with our Anangu leaders, camp out beneath the stars and learn the history of this beautiful part of the world.
