The Non-Government School Regulation Directorate (NGSR) within the Department of Education is Western Australia’s regulatory authority for non-government (private) schools. The Directorate oversees the registration of these schools, providing assurance to parents and the community that they meet the standards set by the Minister for Education, as well as the requirements outlined in Part 4 of the School Education Act 1999 and the School Education Regulations 2000. NGSR also regulates schools approved to enrol international student visa holders.

The Role

The Senior Regulation Officer plays a vital role in the effective regulation of WA’s non-government schools, international education, and community-based senior secondary course providers. This position delivers high‑level regulatory advice, undertakes complex assessments, prepares clear and robust reports, and contributes to the continuous improvement of responsive, client‑centred regulatory services. The Senior Regulation Officer also works collaboratively with State and Commonwealth agencies, maintaining strong communication networks to support national and state regulatory developments.

This role also provides guidance and mentoring to education regulation officers, supporting a high‑performing team and ensuring consistent, evidence‑based approaches to monitoring, evaluation, and compliance.
