Description


We are seeking to establish a pool of Cleaners for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Highgate Primary School (PS) is an Independent Public-School catering to approximately 1000 Kindergarten to Year 6 students.

The Role

Highgate PS is seeking reliable, proactive Cleaners to join our friendly and supportive team. Our cleaners play an essential part in creating a safe, welcoming, and well‑maintained school environment for students, staff, and families.

As our Cleaner, your responsibilities would include:

  • Contributing to a friendly and supportive work environment.
  • Completing internal cleaning duties such as vacuuming, mopping and maintaining floors, cleaning toilets, wiping surfaces, emptying bins and keeping furniture and fittings clean.
  • Cleaning windows as required to ensure classrooms and shared spaces remain bright and welcoming.
  • Carrying out external cleaning duties such as sweeping verandas and covered areas, removing cobwebs, cleaning drinking troughs and keeping outdoor spaces tidy.
  • Using cleaning equipment safely and following all necessary safety procedures and instructions.
  • Reporting any hazards, damage, spills, or supply shortages to the Cleaner in Charge or Manager Corporate Services.
  • Following daily and term cleaning schedules to ensure all areas are maintained to Department of Education standards.

Eligibility

  • obtain a valid Working With Children Check.  
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
