Any exciting opportunity is available for a Guidance Officer at Yarrabilba State Secondary College for a temporary full-time position until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined. Guidance Officers in this role provide individual and small group support for a range of mental health and wellbeing issues. They also work as part of the school team to develop whole school approaches to early identification and support for students with mental health concerns. About the Role:
Part of the Guidance Officer role at Yarrabilba State Secondary College will be to provide direct support to students for mild to moderate mental health difficulties under the Student Wellbeing Workforce. They will add to the support already available to students and become an integral part of the school's existing school-based support team.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Identification, support and therapeutic intervention planning for students' mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
- Provide advice and counselling on educational, behavioural, vocational, personal, social, family and mental health and wellbeing issues for students with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
- Provide support and ensure safety plans for the school context are implemented for students who are self-harming and/or at risk of suicide.
- Support promotion, prevention, awareness and capability building regarding mental health and wellbeing within the school community and school leadership teams.
- Collect data relevant to the role of Guidance Officer - Wellbeing, including pre- and post-intervention data and recording this data, alongside other key data, on a tracking tool for regional data collection purposes.
