About Us:
Monto is a rural community based on a variety of primary production such as dairying, grazing, cropping and pig farming. Of recent years, local producers have diversified into alpacas, goats, horticultural products for export and olive growing. It is a community which has been required to diversify to ensure economic sustainability.
Monto State High School is a small stand-alone high school with students travelling from five primary schools in the area including a non-state school.
The school is situated in the second largest area of school grounds in Queensland. It has an extensive farm for the agricultural section, growing crops and raising cattle. There is a full-size oval, indoor sports hall with basketball, netball and volleyball courts, access to tennis courts and other sports facilities. Other facilities include a resource centre, computer labs and computers with internet access in every general classroom.
About the Role:
As the Head of Special Education Services, you will promote an inclusive culture and practices within the school community to ensure equity and excellence for students with disability. Develop and support a high quality of teaching and adjustments for students with disability in accordance to related legislation and policies. The Head of Special Education Services reports to the Principal.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Lead and manage the Special Education Program and/or Early Childhood Development Program to deliver high-quality advice and support for students with disability.
- Provide expert advice to school leadership, classroom teachers, and staff to plan, implement, and review effective reasonable adjustments for students with disability.
- Coordinate intensive targeted teaching and case management for students requiring substantial or extensive adjustments and intervention.
- Implement and oversee school-wide systems, including data collection and monitoring processes such as the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD), to inform planning and support.
- Build and maintain effective partnerships with parents, external agencies, and community groups, while managing human, financial, facilities, and curriculum resources to achieve school goals.
