About the Role

As the Schools Officer, Grounds, you will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the school's grounds, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. Reporting directly to the Principal, Business Manager, or nominated delegate, you will perform a variety of routine and non-routine tasks to uphold the school's high standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining school ovals, lawns, and gardens, including mowing, watering, weeding, and applying fertilisers and insecticides in line with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) guidelines.
  • Planting, watering, and caring for trees, shrubs, and gardens, as well as maintaining grounds care equipment such as mowers, brush cutters, and tractors.
  • Ensuring compliance with WHS requirements, including safe storage and handling of chemicals, fertilisers, and fuel, and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Coordinating the removal and disposal of rubbish as required and assisting with repairs and maintenance of school facilities, including fences, gates, and irrigation systems.
  • Preparing, marking, and maintaining outdoor sporting facilities and assisting with ground improvement activities.

This role would suit someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about creating a safe and inspiring environment for students to learn and grow.

About You

The following traits would be beneficial:

  • Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) guidelines and procedures.
  • Proficiency in maintaining and operating grounds care equipment such as mowers and brush cutters.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving and teamwork.
