About the Role

The Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities will play a vital role in maintaining the school's grounds and facilities to a high standard. Reporting directly to the Principal, Business Manager, or nominated delegate, you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the school by performing a variety of routine and non-routine tasks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining school grounds, including mowing, gardening, and general landscaping tasks.
  • Performing basic repairs and maintenance of school facilities, furniture, and equipment.
  • Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, including safe storage and handling of chemicals and equipment.
  • Supporting school events by preparing activity areas, moving furniture, and assisting with logistics.
  • Coordinating waste removal and maintaining cleanliness across school grounds.

This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff.

About You

The following traits would be beneficial:

  • Experience in grounds maintenance, including the use of small hand tools and equipment such as mowers and brush cutters.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices, particularly in relation to grounds and facilities maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in identifying and addressing maintenance needs.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to liaise with staff, students, and external contractors.
