About the role

As the state-wide Court Liaison Officer you will:

  • Provide advice, oversight and governance to support the regional Court Liaison Officers.
  • Ensure young people appearing in the Children's Court are supported with reintegration into an appropriate education pathway.

The state-wide Court Liaison Officer reports to the Director, Youth Justice, School Supervisor - Detention Education Centres, Disability, Inclusion and Student Services, Early Childhood and State Schools Division.

Your role

Responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the provision of high-level advice and support to senior officers with respect to the development and state wide implementation of strategic policy initiatives to strengthen student engagement and support young people in the youth justice system.
  • Liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders including regional staff members, Youth Justice Services, Police and the external departments, providing a departmental perspective.
  • Participate and lead teams and projects to successfully develop strategic policy, guidelines, state-wide service delivery implementation and program evaluation in strengthening student engagement.
  • Contribute to the establishment of performance and accountability frameworks including indicators, measures and reporting regimes related to young people supported by regional Court Liaison Officers.
  • Ensure that privacy and confidentiality processes are implemented and requirements are adhered to and information obtained from young people, families and departmental systems is used within legislative and policy requirements.
  • Monitor activities and work practices within the functional area ensure alignment with the Division's standards, expectations and service delivery.
