Details: The Community Coordinator at UC High School Kaleen (UCHSK) will lead efforts to foster a vibrant and supportive community with strong partnerships with external organisations. The successful applicant will use their strategic and analytical expertise to support the leadership team, ensuring initiatives align with the school's strategic plans and goals to support families and students.
By building and nurturing partnerships with the broader community, you will encourage active parental involvement and engagement in education. This position requires exceptional communication and liaison skills, with the ability to collaborate with external agencies and government sectors. You will deliver integrated services that support children and families, establishing our school as a welcoming and inclusive community hub that meets the diverse needs of our community in line with Directorate policy and procedures. The successful applicant will be responsible for implementing the whole-school communication strategy, ensuring alignment with the school’s Vision and culture to foster meaningful engagement with staff, students, families and the broader community.
Eligibility/Other Requirements:
- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra (act.gov.au)
Highly Desirables
- Minimum of four years full time (or equivalent) tertiary study leading to the award of a recognised qualification including social work, community development, health and or education.
- Experience working with families as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience working with diverse multicultural communities
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of 12 months with the possibility of permanency.
An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. Please note, this position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
