Permanent and Temporary School Assistants – Technical/Professional
Join our team of School Assistants and help make a positive impact in ACT public school communities.
We are seeking enthusiastic and caring individuals to assist school leaders and teachers, contribute to inclusive classroom environments and provide practical support to help students succeed.
This flexible, school hour's role offers valuable experience in primary (kindergarten to year 6) and secondary (years 7-10) and college (years 11-12) school settings.
We are currently seeking applicants across the following Technical/Professional School Assistant support areas:
- Food Technology Assistant
- Technology Assistant
- Library Assistant
- Information Communication Technology (ICT) Assistant
- Laboratory Assistant

About the role:
As a School Assistant working in one of our Technical/Professional roles, you may:
- Assist in the operations of a food/hospitality or a technology/industrial arts program
- Coordinate the day-to-day ICT operations within a school
- Support the running of a school library
- Apply technical skills and knowledge to support teachers and students with education programs
- Assist with the preparation and safe operation of a science laboratories.
What we’re looking for:
- Relevant qualifications such Certificate IV in Education Support (desirable) or others as relevant to assist you in your role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- A caring, student‑centred approach, along with a genuine interest in supporting children and young people in their learning.
- An understanding of diverse learning needs, including how to assist students who require additional support or extension.
- Effective teamwork and reliability, with good organisational and time‑management skills.
- An approachable personality and a professional attitude in a school environment.
Eligibility requirements for employment:
To be eligible to be employed in an ACT public school, you must have:
- Valid ACT Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration (or eligibility to apply)
- Australian citizenship, permanent residency or a valid working visa.
