Lurnea Public School is a comprehensive, co-educational primary school in Lurnea, NSW, catering to students from Preschool through Year 6. The school places particular emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy as the cornerstone of its teaching and learning program, operating within an inclusive and collaborative environment where every student's individual learning potential is actively supported. The school offers specialist programs that reflect the diversity of its student population. High potential and gifted education provisions ensure that academically advanced students are appropriately challenged, while dedicated EAL/D support serves students for whom English is an additional language or dialect. Aboriginal education programs are also embedded within the school's offerings, recognising the importance of culturally responsive learning experiences. In the classroom, student learning support officers (SLSOs) work alongside teachers, providing additional support to help students access the curriculum. This staffing arrangement reinforces the school's focus on learning equity — ensuring that each student receives the attention and resources needed to reach their potential, not simply a standardised experience. Lurnea Public School operates on the understanding that teachers, community members, and students are partners in education. The school's vision articulates a shared goal of nurturing confident and creative individuals, active and informed citizens, and successful lifelong learners with high levels of self-efficacy — with careful decision-making around equity underpinning how resources and support are directed across the school.
