Role description
We are seeking a 1:1 teacher supporting a student experiencing ongoing social and emotional challenges, including complex behaviour. Ideally the person will have capacity to work across 5 days of the week and there is the possibility of TRT work on site to add to the fraction of time. The position will complement another teacher who has 0.4 FTE working with the same student.
Key Responsibilities:
* 1:1 support for a Primary student with complex needs
* Create a safe and respectful learning environment
* Deliver engaging learning based on student interests
* Support integration into small group play and learning
* Maintain strong, respectful relationships with family and allied professionals through regular communication
* Contribute to a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment
* Follow, and routinely review, current safety plans and practices with site leadership and care team
* Support student progress through effective documentation, feedback and reporting
Skills and abilities:
* Experience working with students with complex needs and disabilities
* Skilled in trauma-informed and strength-based practices
* Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills
* Warm, energetic and adaptive with a growth mindset
* Confident using visual supports, sensory strategies and regulation tools
