Role description


This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2026

The Role

The Student Support Coordinator is an integral role in the School of Isolated and Distance Education’s (SIDE’s) Referrals team, working closely with SIDE Regional Coordinators, Learning Area leaders and the School Psychology team to strengthen coordination practices and build staff capacity across the school. The Referrals program supports students with severe physical and mental health challenges and pregnant students wanting to continue their schooling in a highly supportive online environment.

This role supports the development of best practice in providing continuity of schooling for severely ill or pregnant students, while ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures. The successful applicant should contribute to sophisticated workflows used to monitor students’ academic progress and risk profiles. Mentoring, consultation and guidance around case management would be provided to support Regional and Referrals Coordinators in responding to complex student needs.

The successful applicant should be able to work effectively within a large and complex staffing profile, engaged in providing highly effective direction and support for parents, staff and students. The successful applicant should display leadership within whole school initiatives, particularly in the Referrals Program. Through these responsibilities, the coordinator should help strengthen a positive, inclusive and supportive school culture for students and families dealing with severe and complex health issues.
