Primary objective
The principal plays a vital role in delivering the strategic plan of the Department of Education and Training and is the leading educational professional at Nganmarriyanga School, who inspires students, staff and community members to optimise the learning of all students.
Context statement
Nganmarriyanga School is a very remote school located approximately 400km south-west of Darwin on the Daly River. The school caters to students from birth – Year 10 from the Nganmarriyanga community and 2 outstations located nearby; it has an approximate enrolment of 140 students, with an Aboriginal cohort of approximately 99%. The principal works with the teaching staff and part-time local Aboriginal staff. Nganmarriyanga School uses the Read Write Inc program to support the teaching of Literacy. It operates across the spectrum of the Australian curriculum and delivers the Early Years Learning Framework and secondary education.
