Role description
The Education Support Officer - Students with Additional Needs is accountable to the Principal and Deputy Principal for assisting in the delivery of effective and inclusive educational programs by providing para-professional support to students requiring additional learning, behavioural, communication, sensory, physical, health and/or personal care support.
The position contributes to improved educational, social, emotional and wellbeing outcomes through the implementation of targeted adjustments, personalised learning supports, positive behaviour support strategies and individual care plans. The role supports student participation, engagement, independence and safety across classroom, playground, community and extra-curricular settings.
The position includes supporting students with personal care requirements, including toileting, continence care, hygiene routines, mobility support and health care procedures as required, whilst maintaining student dignity, privacy and independence.
This role may involve supporting students presenting with complex disabilities, developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, intellectual disability, trauma backgrounds, communication needs, sensory processing differences, medical conditions and social-emotional needs. This position contributes to the achievement of educational outcomes and supports the school's commitment to inclusion, wellbeing and student success.
