 Position Summary 

 Position Title: PDHPE Teacher 

 Reports to:  Headmaster, Head of School, MYP/DP Coordinators

 Classification: Teacher

The PDHPE teacher is responsible for delivering effective, engaging, and evidence-based instruction within the PDHPE Key Learning Area. This includes fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific inquiry across junior and senior levels. Teachers are expected to support the College ethos, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to student wellbeing and academic success. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

Teaching and Learning 

  • Deliver lessons in line with the IB and NESA curriculum. 
  • Plan, assess, and report on student progress in accordance with College guidelines. 
  • Conduct practical investigations safely and effectively. 
  • Differentiate learning to meet individual student needs. 
  • Integrate digital technologies to enhance learning. 

 

Curriculum and Assessment 

  • Design and evaluate teaching programs aligned with NESA outcomes and IB criteria.
  • Develop learning materials that reflect current best practice in PDHPE, health literacy, and movement science.
  • Create and implement formative and summative assessments for both theory and practical outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of practical participation, skill progression, physical activity levels, and health learning.
  • Coordinate or contribute to fitness testing and physical activity assessments.
  • Support the College’s Sport and Co-Curricular Programs including weekly sport, carnivals, gala days, representative teams, and fitness programs.
  • Coach school teams and lead training sessions to prepare students for competitions.
  • Promote student participation in physical activity, wellbeing programs, and representative pathways.
  • Assist in organising major College sport events (swimming, athletics, cross country).
  • Contribute to whole-school health and wellbeing initiatives (e.g., anti-bullying programs, nutrition education, wellness campaigns).

 

Co-Curricular, Sport & Community Participation

 

Professional Engagement 

  • Engage in professional development and College-based training. 
  • Collaborate with PDHPE department staff and across faculties. 
  • Maintain teaching accreditation and meet NESA/IB standards. 

 

Pastoral/Co-curricular & Islamic ethos

  • Contribute to the wellbeing and support of all students. 
  • Participate in College co-curricular and community events. 
  • Promote student participation in activities and competitions. 
  • Contribute to Islamic events and planning
  • Abide by the schools Islamic ethos including dress code and respect
  • Attend school Islamic events that are implemented in the school calendar 

 

Selection Criteria 

 

Essential 

  • NESA-accredited teacher with teaching experience. 
  • Strong understanding of IB/NESA curriculum and pedagogy. 
  • Demonstrated classroom management and communication skills. 
  • Commitment to Islamic values and the College’s mission. 
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance. 

 

Desirable 

  • Experience teaching in IB World Schools. 
  • Familiarity with inquiry-based and STEM learning. 
  • Postgraduate qualifications in education or PDHPE.
