Sir Joseph Banks High School is a comprehensive coeducational secondary school in the Bankstown staffing area with 892 mainstream students and a dedicated Support Unit of 91 students catering to students with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. The school is a vibrant, proudly inclusive multicultural learning community where 85% of students have language backgrounds other than English and 25 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students contribute to a strong learning culture. The school has achieved top 1% growth in NSW for literacy and numeracy between Years 9-12, with all ATAR students receiving university offers over the past five years, and actively builds teacher capacity through professional learning teams focused on Future Focused Learning, Project Based Learning, Visible Learning, and Growth Mindset.
