Details: Student Behaviour Support (SBS) Coaches (HP4) provide a structured coaching service that strengthens school-based staff capability and improves student outcomes through a preventative Tier 2 approach. Using the SBS coaching model and coaching cycles, the coach partners with teachers and other key staff to identify practice challenges, set targeted goals and implement evidence-informed strategies in everyday classroom contexts where complex student behaviour is present.

The role focuses on building staff confidence, consistency and effectiveness (primarily teachers and LSAs) in responding to complex student behaviour, rather than delivering direct therapeutic intervention to students. SBS Coaches work collaboratively with staff and align with whole-school frameworks such as PBL and RRE to ensure the service complements other Directorate supports.

SBS Coaches work within a multidisciplinary team that includes senior teachers, occupational therapists, psychologists and speech pathologists.
