About the role

Instrumental Music Tutor – Brass and/or Woodwind 
Fixed Term, Part Time

Damascus College is seeking an experienced Brass and/or Woodwind Instrumental Music Tutor to join the Instrumental Music Department from Term 3. This is a fixed term contract position for the remainder of the 2026 school year.

The successful candidate will be engaged for a minimum of 4 hours up to 8 hours of tutoring per week during the school term.  Students in the program are enrolled for half hour lessons on a rotational basis, during school hours each week and are charged for eight lessons per term. 

The Instrumental Tutor will deliver high quality individual and small group instrumental lessons to students across Years 7–12, fostering a love of music and a commitment to developing their skills and confidence as performers.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

We are looking for an experienced tutor who can demonstrate:

  • The ability to teach classical and/or contemporary technique in the relevant instrument/s.
  • Strong knowledge of music literacy, including the reading and writing of music.
  • Experience teaching, or the capacity to teach, within the VCE Music and/or AMEB syllabuses would be highly regarded.
  • The ability to differentiate instruction to support students with diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills, including the ability to manage priorities and contribute positively within a collaborative school environment.
  • A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and willingness to comply with annual Child Safe requirements.
