Role description
Local Relief Teachers are based within a group of schools travelling up to 45 kms from their base school to cover vacancies. Local Relief Teachers receive a 5% loading on their salary.
Based at Port Augusta Secondary School, this position entails working in any of the schools in Port Augusta and surrounds including primary, secondary (R-12) and Special Education, to cover short term teacher absences. There may be occasions where appointments continue for longer periods if other options for filling positions are not available.
The position requires the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships and interact professionally with a wide range of people in various locations. Relief Teachers can expect to work in a range of age groups and curriculum areas with only short notice. It is expected Relief Teachers are able to work independently and collaboratively in a team and are able to develop engaging and effective learning opportunities for students. Relief Teachers may encounter some students who exhibit challenging behaviours.
Access to a government car is not provided for this position.
Appointment is identified as a temporary position and for which the teacher is not permanent on the basis of the appointment.
