About Our School

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Como-Oyster Bay is a two-stream school located in the Sutherland Shire. Founded by the Presentation Sisters in 1953, the school is characterised by a positive, nurturing, learning environment that strives for excellence in all facets of education and fosters the confidence, self-worth and integrity of each child. The story of Nano Nagle and the charisms of the Presentation Sisters continued to enrich our Catholic values and shape our interactions and relationships with a strong message of service and empowerment. Our school motto 'Love One Another' is central to all we do and is particularly evident in the respectful student-teacher and parent-teacher relationships. We always strive to guide and inspire the community to develop a stronger connection to our Catholic faith.

In the tradition of our Presentation Charism each class adopts a specific Nagle value for the year to acknowledge and action the values of Nano Nagle. Each class promotes a shared understanding and practical application of this value throughout the year in the development of Catholic social justice teachings. These values are Welcome (Kindergarten), Kindness (Year 1), Peacemaker (Year 2), Positive Relationships (Year 3), Respect (Year 4 ), Justice (Year 5) and Service (Year 6).
