Heckenberg Public School is located in South Western Sydney, 5km west of Liverpool, and was built in 1965. The school serves a culturally diverse community with 20% of students identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and 65% speaking an additional language or dialect across 19 language groups including English, Arabic, Vietnamese, Khmer and Samoan. The school has a strong culture of instructional leadership and collaboration, validated as Excelling in Educational Leadership, Wellbeing, and Learning Culture in 2024, and offers High Potential and Gifted Education programs across creative, intellectual, physical and social-emotional domains. The school maintains partnerships with community organizations including Liverpool Local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group, Community Hubs Australia, University of Newcastle, and South West Sydney Area Health Services to support improved pedagogical practices and student outcomes.
