Role description
The Opportunity
We are seeking a suitably qualified, and preferably experienced, Work Health and Safety Coordinator to work with leadership to ensure the safety of staff, students, families, visitors and contractors in our Preschool, OSHC and Primary School community.
The role involves providing a responsive and professional service, focusing on planning, design and administration of Work Health and Safety (WHS) and Return to Work (RTW).
This is a part-time position, working 7.5 hours per week, 42 weeks per year and may suit someone who is already performing this role in another school. Initially, further hours will be available as needed.
Key Responsibilities
As WHS Coordinator at St Joseph’s School your duties will include -
- Undertaking responsibility for WHS and RTW activities within the school where an advanced level of specialised knowledge is required within the context of the legislative requirements applicable to the role.
- Ensuring currency of requirements and undertake timely WHS inductions for staff, contractors, and volunteers to enable safe use of designated places, materials and equipment within the school.
- Ensuring that contractors attending the school have required clearances, licenses and insurance for the work they are undertaking and maintain records as applicable.
- In conjunction with school leaders, undertaking WHS risk assessments, audits and inspections on a regular basis, document outcomes, and draft correspondence and communications (for authorisation by others) to ensure WHS legislative requirements are effectively met.
