This is a 6 month fixed term, part-time (0.6 FTE) position commencing Term 3, 2026

Our School

Avonvale Primary School (PS) is a small, community-based school located in Northam, on Ballardong Boodja. Our students learn in classrooms and outdoors; from literacy and numeracy foundations to Outdoor Learning, and Two-Way Science. Every Wednesday, while students are immersed in Outdoor Learning with our amazing specialist teachers and support staff, class teachers receive their DOTT together allowing for high levels of collaboration, shared planning, and professional dialogue. This intentional structure supports the collective growth of our teaching team and ensures coherence across classrooms.

Our work is grounded in healing-centred, trauma-informed practice through the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM), and we are guided by the belief that when the adults change, everything changes. We are looking for deputy principals who will thrive in a culture of care, high expectations and reflection, and who see challenge as an opportunity for growth.
