Selection Criteria

SC1

Demonstrated experience working with young people, particularly students who may be disengaged from learning or experiencing social, emotional and behavioural challenges, with the capacity to build positive, respectful and supportive relationships.

SC2

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of student wellbeing approaches, including trauma-informed, strengths-based and inclusive practices, and the ability to apply these effectively within a school setting.

SC3

Demonstrated ability to provide wellbeing support and supportive counselling conversations for students within the scope of the role, including emotional support, mentoring, emotional regulation and problem-solving assistance.

SC4

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, education support staff, wellbeing professionals, leadership and external agencies, to improve student engagement and learning outcomes.

SC5

Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with students, families, carers and external support services while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

Role

The Wellbeing Officer supports student engagement, wellbeing and participation in learning. Working under direction, the role contributes to the delivery of educational and wellbeing support programs for students experiencing social, emotional and behavioural challenges.
