Location Profile
Yarraville Special Developmental School (YSDS) is a small, vibrant school with a strong emphasis on building and maintaining positive relationships with families and the wider community. We currently support 100 students aged between 5 and 18 years, all with a diagnosis of moderate to severe intellectual disability.
At YSDS, students are at the centre of everything we do. We are committed to providing a safe, stimulating, and flexible learning environment that values the individuality and ability of each student, empowering them to flourish and succeed.
Our dedicated teachers, education support staff, and allied health team work collaboratively to create rich learning experiences that foster growth, independence, and wellbeing. Guided by our school vision `Excellence in Learning¿ we strive to provide a strong foundation for continued learning, supporting every student to grow into a safe, respectful, and responsible citizen.
Selection Criteria
1.Demonstrated specialist knowledge in the area of Augmentative and Alternative Communication with clinical experience delivering a comprehensive speech therapy service. Experience within an educational setting preferable but not essential.
2. Demonstrated ability to work in collaboration with teaching teams to devise programs that develop and extend student communication skills.
3. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
4. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to consult with and advise other professionals providing services to students.
