Role description
Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated capacity to work across all areas of a School with students who have a moderate to severe intellectual disability.
- Knowledge of the use and application of a wide range of augmentative and alternative communication systems and strategies for children with an intellectual disability and have a commitment to implementing these forms of communication.
- Recognize the importance of working positively and effectively within a multi-disciplinary team in a trans-disciplinary way.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with families care givers, staff and other professionals on service delivery and student-based issues.
- Commitment to professional learning and growth, including the delivery of professional development to others.
Role
The position involves working with children who have a moderate to severe intellectual disability and/or multiple disabilities within an educational framework.
Range 4 is distinguished by the introduction of management responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional support services. The role will usually impact beyond the work area or professional field. It seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, operations or educational programs. Directions on targets and goals are provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved.
