Role description
Commencing in Term 3, 2026, the College is seeking an outstanding educator to join our middle leadership team as Assistant Head of Science. This is a three‑year (1‑point) promotional appointment (2026–2029) with commensurate time release, offered alongside a full‑time permanent teaching position.
Reporting directly to the Head of Science, the Assistant Head of Science plays a key role in supporting high‑quality teaching and learning across Years 5–12. The role contributes to the leadership of contemporary pedagogies, curriculum differentiation, assessment and feedback practices, classroom management, and the professional growth of staff within the Science Faculty.
This is a dynamic position requiring exceptional communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, together with the ability to prioritise, collaborate and work autonomously.
Essential
- A working understanding of, and commitment to, the Catholic ethos of a school in the Edmund Rice tradition.
- Demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours and professional boundaries that reflect child safeguarding values in practice.
- Experience in leading a professional team and the ability to provide proactive, high‑quality leadership and management within a department.
- Qualifications to teach Science (Stage 4–6) with NESA Accreditation and approval to teach in NSW.
- Demonstrated excellence as a classroom practitioner.
- Previous experience in, or capacity to assist with, planning, developing and implementing the Science syllabus.
