Role description
The Opportunity
We are looking for an Education Support Officer (Curriculum) to join the St Joseph’s School team! If you are passionate about education, possess strong organisational skills, and can adapt and contribute to a dynamic learning environment, we invite you to apply.
Initially, there will be up to 20 hours per week available for the remainder of Term 2.
Key Responsibilities
The Education Support Officer will
- Assist student learning in small groups and one-on-one settings to support learning across all curriculum areas and in particular, literacy and numeracy
- Supervise and care for students with formally identified special needs, following Personalised Plans for Learning (PPL)
- Evaluate and assess learning needs of specific students in conjunction with teachers
- Apply personal knowledge and initiative to suggest modifications to educational programs to better suit the needs of specific students.
About You
As the preferred candidate, you will:
- Actively support and contribute to the Catholic identity and ethos of our school
- Hold a Certificate IV in Education Support (or equivalent)
- Have prior experience in a similar role in a school setting
- Be able to work with a low level of direct supervision, taking broad direction and applying initiative and adaptability as appropriate
- Demonstrate a commitment to working collaboratively within a learning community and build positive relationships with staff, students and families.
- Experience with students with sensory needs, ASD, ADHD and trauma related issues is desirable.
