Cartwright Public School is located in Sydney Southwest in the Liverpool region. The school has 229 students of which 76 % are from a language background other than English and 8.7% of the students identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. There are 9 mainstream classes and 7 support unit classes catering for students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities and Autism, supported by School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs). Students come from a range of diverse socio-economic backgrounds, and Equity funding is used to provide additional support and targeted programs to enhance learning outcomes across the school.
