The School
Onslow School is a Kindergarten to Year 12 (K-12) public school with a long and established connection to the local community, founded in 1935 and relocated to a modern site in 2006 that supports teaching and learning from early childhood through to secondary years.
The school places strong value on respectful relationships between staff, students, families and the wider community, helping to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where students feel supported and able to succeed. Respect for the culture and history of the Thalanyji people is an important part of the school’s identity and is reflected through programs such as Two Way Science and Aboriginal Languages.
Onslow School offers a broad range of programs and works closely with families, local industry, community organisations and external services to enrich learning, support wellbeing and strengthen pathways beyond school. In the secondary years, students are supported through career development opportunities, work placements and flexible learning options, including programs delivered in partnership with the School of Isolated and Distance Education.
As a K–12 school with varied programs, partnerships and facilities, effective planning and coordination of school finances, staffing and the maintenance of buildings and resources is essential. Careful management of these areas supports the school’s priorities and ensures day‑to‑day operations run smoothly, allowing staff to focus on delivering high‑quality education.
