Role description

About the Role:

We are seeking to appoint a passionate and dedicated Education Support Officer – Curriculum to provide one-on-one support for a student. This role involves working closely with the classroom teacher, family and external services to assist with providing an individualised learning program supporting engagement, access to the curriculum and wellbeing within the classroom environment.

The position will be 8:45am-3pm Mon to Friday working 40 weeks of the year (term time).

As a part of the role, the successful candidate will:

  • Assist the student’s learning under the supervision of the classroom teacher
  • Employ behaviour management strategies to ensure a safe, orderly and successful learning environment
  • Supervise and care for a student with a formally identified special need in accordance with their Personalised Plan for Learning (PPL)
  • Participate in the evaluation of programs and student involvement and document student progress/behaviour in SEQTA as directed
  • Provide yard duty support to teachers in accordance with school procedures
  • Assist with physical requirements of student requiring special care including assistance with personal care
  • Assist teacher with the care of the student on excursions, sports days, activities and other classroom and associated school educational activities.
  • Provide general assistance of a supportive nature to teachers when required
