Role

The Secondary Teacher Assistant (STA) will perform a number of duties in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice and school policy. The STA will be based in one of the College¿s four Houses and will be linked to a Leading Teacher who will supervise and monitor their work.

The Secondary Teacher Assistant is required to:

  • provide friendly and helpful assistance to students, parents and staff
  • prioritise and manage work demands
  • communicate effectively with a range of people
  • work as part of the house team to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and professional manner
  • provide specialized knowledge that is relied upon to deliver services to the work area

Responsibilities

Student Attendance:

  • Checking homegroup rolls daily to ensure they are maintained correctly.
  • Maintaining student attendance database
  • Contacting parents to ascertain whether a student absence is approved.
  • Preparing reports for Homegroup teachers and House coordinators to facilitate the follow-up of student absences.
