College Counsellor

Xavier College invites applications for compassionate and experienced College Counsellors at our Evanston (R–6) Campus. In this role, you will deliver quality counselling services that support students’ emotional, social and academic wellbeing, fostering a safe and inclusive environment where young people feel heard, supported and empowered within the College’s Catholic and Salesian tradition.

We have two permanent, part-time positions available with both working 41 weeks per year (During school terms and the week prior to the commencement of Term 1).

• Position 1:
  5 days per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 4.30pm, 37.5 hours per week
• Position 2:
  3 days per week, 18 - 22.5 hours per week (Hours/days are negotiable with the suitable candidate)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide professional counselling support to students experiencing emotional, social or academic challenges, promoting their ongoing wellbeing and personal growth.
• Be an integral member of the College’s student care and wellbeing services.
• Serve as a specialist resource for teaching staff, offering guidance and strategies to support student wellbeing and resilience.
• Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding issues affecting students’ wellbeing and family relationships.
• Build and maintain partnerships with allied health professionals and external support agencies to enhance student care.
