- Aptitude for working with students with a range of disabilities which may be physical, intellectual, behavioural or other in nature
- Aptitude for working in a secondary school setting
- Literacy and numeracy skills along with computer competencies
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to and work in a team environment
- High level time-management skills and demonstrated initiative
Role
The Inclusion Aide will perform a number of duties, under direction within the Innclusion team at Keilor Downs College.
The Inclusion Aide is required to:
- provide friendly and helpful assistance to students, parents, staff and visitors to the college
- prioritise and manage work demands
- communicate effectively with a range of people
- work as part of the Integration team to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and professional manner
- maintain confidentiality in respect to college records and in dealings with members of the college community
- undertake training as required to attend to specific medical/health needs of individual students on the Integration program
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Inclusion Coordinator, this position will:
- Assist students on an individual or group basis in specific learning areas
- Assist with the supervision of students in the playground, at camps, on excursions, in sporting activities, therapy activities, life skill activities and other school-based activities, as required
- Provide basic physical and emotional care to students
- Manage medical/health needs of individual students in accordance with training provided
